Lost in Time

I can't believe so much time has passed since I last posted on this blog.  Lots has happened in that time.

First, Lynn had a total ankle replacement on May 15th and he is now part bionic.  Lots of "nursing" care by yours truly took up a lot of time.  We worry that he won't get through HSA screening at the airport without a note from his doctor.  He is now in rehab 3 days a week with no end in sight.  Luckily the rehab hospital is only about 8 miles down route 10.

RJ finished his championship in June and Trouper is doing well needing only 6 more points for his championship.  Sister Abby needs only 3 more points for her Grand Champion title.  We are hoping that she can get those points in Harrisburg next weekend.

And then just last week I took a whirlwind trip to Canada to breed Devon to Brodie.  I'm really excited to see the puppies they will produce.  Brodie is a gorgeous boy with a sweet demeanor.  An ultrasound will be scheduled in 3 weeks...stay tuned and keep your fingers crossed.

WOW !!! National Specialty Show

My friends Margo and Alice (co-owner of Trouper) traveled with me to Denver, CO for the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of America National Specialty show and the local GSPC of Colorado Specialty show.  We left on May 2nd and arrived in Denver on May 4th...a very grueling drive, especially through Kansas, but maybe that is my age showing.  I thought Kansas would never end.  Our three young dogs handled the travel like seasoned veterans.  We had rented a house in Denver that had a large fenced backyard so the "kids" had plenty of off leash time to run and play.  That was wonderful for them to blow off steam.

The "kids" made us so proud.  The boys Trouper and RJ (Buck Hollow's Super Trouper and Buck Hollow's Elegant Trifecta v Stelor JH) were in the ribbons every time they walked in the ring.  And sister Abby (CH Buck Hollow's Dancing Queen JH) was awarded Best in Sweepstakes at the National show by breeder judge Renee Lara.  RJ & Abby earned a first place in the Futurity and Trouper was 2nd to RJ.  Finally, in the Best of Breed competition Abby made the first 2 cuts by breeder judge Dan Mack.  Not too shabby for the youngest dog in that level of competition.

Topping off the 6 days of competition, half-sister Diamond, owned by the sweet Barbara VanBlarcum won Best of Breed.  We are so thrilled for Barbara and Dee Stelmach, owner of Roy the sire of these 4 wonderful GSPs.

All of these wonderful accomplishments were brought about by the awesome handling skills of Melissa Foehrkolb and Trish Moore.  What can I say ladies - - - you were GREAT!

Another 3 day drive got us home the evening of May 12th.

Photos to be posted once received.

I'm just a lonely boy...

I'm just a lonely boy
Lonely and blue
I'm all alone
With nothin' to do
...

I've got everything
You could think of
But all I want
Is someone to love

Puppies in their new play area.

After some play and visitors they discovered the beds in the new play area and piled on.  It is now almost 9 PM and they are still piled up.  I think they don't want to go back to the whelping box for overnight.  I may need to "escort" them after the last feeding tonight.
